GONE WEST!

We regret to have to note the passing of another of our members. John W. Newton unexpectedly passed away on March 27. John is survived by his wife, Joan.
John lived at 181 Pomeroy Meadow Rd., Southampton, MA 01073
John was a very active member and was always ready to lend a hand at the club. When Dave Lavigne was unable to mow the field last summer John stepped up and filled in, doing a great job.
John was always at our field cleanups and whenever there was work to be done.
John had been teaching his grandson to fly and was at the field most Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
John will be greatly missed.

FIELD CLEANUP REMINDER

Our field cleanup will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at about 8:30 AM. The rain date for this is Saturday, April 26.
This is one of our most important "events" of the early season. This is where we repair winter damage, clean up the field and facilities and expand our useable areas.
We ask volunteers to bring gardening tools, rakes, shovels, etc. We often need chain saws, weed whackers and mowers.
Most important, we need people! It takes a lot of help to make this successful. The more help we have the better the job and the faster it goes.
In the past we have had an excellent response to this detail. Often, we have had helpers who were not even members; they just volunteered.
So, thanks in advance. Let's make this another successful cleanup.
