FIELD CLEANUP DAY
Our field cleanup day will be held on Saturday, April 19. We usually arrive around 9 AM although some of our members arrive around 8 AM. Usually someone brings coffee and donuts for the gang. We usually have a great turnout for this important event. We are proud of our flying facilities and to keep them looking good we need this cleanup. If you can afford a few hours of you time and a little muscle please attend. We usually need common garden tools; garden rakes, leaf rakes, shovels and any other items that may be handy for cleanup. The cleanup usually involves cutting and burning some brush, mowing and trimming the grass, filling any holes or tracks in the runway and just generally moving things around. We set up the shelters and clean and paint what needs cleaning and painting. If you have any questions you can contact Pres. Andre or Ed Kopec. We are looking forward to seeing you on April 19. Dave S., Ed.
ACTIVITIES AROUND THE HOBBY
There isn't a lot of news at this time of year around our hobby. There is very little flying activity although I have been assured that people like Mark Munde, Bobby O' and Rene Soucy have been taking advantage of the few nice winter days that we get. The snow on the runway hasn't been torn up too badly by snow mobiles and temperatures on sunny afternoons are bearable. I haven't heard a report about the condition of the road but Dave Lampron managed to keep it passable until New Years. Thanks, Dave. Good job! The Connecticut auction was held a few weeks ago. The weather didn't cooperate and only a few of our members reported that they attended. Bobby O' reported that some items seemed to be very reasonable and some seemed to be very pricey. They also streamlined the procedure somewhat and made it easier to buy some items. I didn't receive any reports from the WRAM show. The weather was terrible that weekend and I assume many of our members passed on that event. If you have any input into winter events, or any events for that matter, jot it down and send it to me or email it to me. We would love to hear what our people are doing for the winter. Dave S., Ed.
SWAP MEET/FLEA MARKET
We will be holding our swap meet/flea market/tag sale during our March fun meeting on Thursday, March 20 at the VFW in Florence. We are inviting some of the other local clubs to join in this event. We hope that this event will catch on and generate some late season interest. Bring any modeling items that you think you want to sell; kits, planes, engines, tools, electronics, any items that are of interest to the hobby. Identify the items with your name and prices. This may be a great place for newcomers to the hobby to find some starter items. Dave S., Ed.
DUES REMINDER
Remember, dues are due for those who have not paid their dues yet. The sooner you pay the better it is for our club. Please get those checks in now. Dave S., Ed.
CLUB WISH LIST
The club tries to maintain a wish list of maintenance items that we need for the field. In the past it has included weed whackers, rollers, hand tools, etc. If you have unused items that we can use to maintain the field please contact one of the club officers. We will update the list soon.
Our first outdoor business meeting at the field is in MAY. Something to look forward to.
